Abstract
Textiles fabrics made up at least in part of cellulose triacetate yarns are submitted to an "annealing" process which comprises thoroughly wetting the fabric and treating while still wet with wet steam or hot water, preferably at 120-160 DEG C., whereby the degree of crystallinity of the cellulose triacetate is increased. By this treatment wrinkling of the fabric during annealing is avoided and delustring tends to occur to some extent. If an unannealed cellulose triacetate fabric is to be treated with a hot aqueous dye bath, e.g. at 120-125 DEG C., the fabric should preferably first be thoroughly wetted, since under such conditions annealing can occur. The Provisional Specification also describes the treatment of fabrics comprising other cellulose esters, e.g. simple and mixed cellulose esters of propionic and butyric acids, having a propionyl or butyryl value of at least 25 per cent (reckoned as the acid) and containing less than 0.5, and preferably less than 0.35, free hydroxyl groups for each anhydroglucose unit. Specifications 758,442, 776,346 and 797,661, [all in Group IV (a)], are referred to. Specification 753,461 also is referred to.ALSO:Textile fabrics made up at least in part of cellulose triacetate yarns are submitted to an "annealing" process which comprises thoroughly wetting the fabric and treating while still wet with wet steam or hot water, preferably at 120-160 DEG C., whereby the degree of crystallinity of the cellulose triacetate is increased.
