Abstract

797,087. Agglutinated glass fibre sheets. FIBREGLASS, Ltd. June 4, 1956 [June 6, 1955], No. 16120/55. Class 140. A mat of glass fibres is spray-impregnated with an aqueous solution of a resin-precipitating agent and is then sprayed with an aqueous solution or emulsion of a resin, and the treated mat is then passed through a suction chamber to extract water and is finally passed through an oven to cause the resin to bond the fibres together to form a sheet. Typically the mat is of 2 inch glass fibres which are deposited on a conveyer and sprayed in succession with an aqueous solution of potash alum and an aqueous solution or emulsion of a phenol-formaldehyde resin.
