Abstract

794,363. Garment stretchers. RIGDEN. R. April 5, 1956 [Aug. 18, 1955], No. 23781/55. Class 141 [Also in Group XIV] A hanger for a garment with a closed waist to be held after one folding, consists of a resilient steel strip 1 with one dowel, 4, attached at one end to fit into the main fold and two dowels, 7, at the other end to fit into the smaller folds keeping the garment taut. The strip is suspended by a hook, 2, or similar device and the hanger is used by bowing the steel strip and releasing it when the dowels are engaged in the folds. It is removed by slightly bowing the strip again. The dowels may be covered with or made of rubber or a non- slipping material. The device may be used in combination with a coat &c. hanger, 13, slipped on to the hook. The dowels may be angularly adjustable in vertical planes and clampable in the adjusted position so that with varying waist sizes, the dowels can be made to lie in the folds of the garment.
