Class 100(1) [Also in Group XXII] A coil holder from which a coil of stiff strip material, for instance metal strip, is fed to a machine comprises a base 1, a horizontally-arranged disc-like tray 7 freely rotatable on the base, support means 13 upstanding from the base outside the periphery of the rotatable tray 7 and guiding means 15, 21 carried by the support means 13 for guiding the strip material from the inside of the coil which is carried on the tray, the arrangement being such that when the strip material is fed to the machine the unwinding of the coil from the inside will induce rotation of the coil and tray, owing to the natural spring of the coiled material. In use the guide frame 15 is swung aside, about its mounting 14 on the support 13, and a coil is placed on the tray 7, the frame 15 is then swung back to extend diametrically over the tray and is held in this position by tightening a handle 16. The inner end of the coil is then led through the frame 15 up and over the guide 21 to the machine. The tray 7 may be in the form of a spoked wheel or in the form of dish to hold oil as well as the coil. Specification 681,275 is referred to.
