792,936. Motor vehicle frames. DAIMLER - BENZ AKT.-GES. March 29, 1956 [March 31, 1955], No. 9971/56. Classes 73(3) and 79 (4) A power unit 13, 14, 15 is mounted in a motor vehicle by means of a U-shaped auxiliary frame the transverse member 17 of which supports one end of the power unit and the suspension and springing of a pair of road wheels 20, whilst the other end of the power unit is supported, with the interposition of rubber cushions 33, at the free ends of the limbs 18, 19 of the auxiliary frame by a tie device 35 fixed to the power unit and which connects and braces the free ends of the limbs; the auxiliary frame is suspended from the vehicle chassis by resilient means, two of the suspension points F, G being located near the free ends of the limbs. In the preferred embodiment, the transverse member 17, which is hollow and of rectangular section, is suspended at D, E from longitudinal member 10, 11 of the vehicle chassis by means of frusto-conical rubber cushions 24 clamped between similarly shaped protrusions 25 and depressions 26 formed on the longitudinal and transverse members respectively. The limbs 18, 19 are of tubular or rectangular section and are similarly suspended at points F and G. The power unit is supported at A on the member 17 by a rubber ring 32, and at B and C by rubber bushes 33 mounted on the ends of the limbs 18, 19 and which engage holes in the tie bar member 35 Steerable front road wheels 20 are suspended at the ends of the member 17 by means of wishbone links 21, 22 disposed one above the other, and are sprung by means of coil spring 23.
