792,445. Targets for games; toys. ARMSTRONG, R. E. Aug. 29, 1956, No. 26355/56. Classes 132(2) and 132(3) A toy comprises a base, on which a figure is mounted which includes a movable body pivotally supported to swing downwardly and incorporating a striking implement in an attitude to strike a weight - elevating lever, and a retractable impact receiving device mounted on the base and yieldably held in a projected position, and connecting means between the movable body part and the impact receiving device and operative to cause the movable body to swing downwardly in a striking operation when the impact receiving device is caused to retract. When the button 24 is hit by a disc thrown by hand, the member 27 pivots about 28, and the chain 30 pulls the body part 15 of the figure down about the pivot 17 and the mallet 16 strikes the lever 8, sending the weight 5 up grooves in the stand 3 hitting a gong 4. The distance the weight travels up the stand depends on the force and the angle of application on the button 24. The figure returns to its normal position by the action of a weight 35 and the button projects outwards again by the action of a spring 32. The legs of the figure are cut away to allow free movement of the body part and a rod 33 prevents the member 27 from turning too far when returning to its normal position. The base is provided with friction grip devices 20 to prevent sliding on the support 19 along which the discs are thrown. Alternatively, the base may be integral with the support.
