Haulm-clearing hooks are mounted on a potato-harvester, or on a tractor towing it, in positions adjacent to the vehicle-wheels and just forward thereof so that haulms are pulled by the hooks as the wheels run over them. Each hook comprises a bifurcated shank 12 secured adjustably to a bar 13 through a pin and slot connection 14 the bar having a hook 26 and a rearwardly-extending lifting arm 24 which is attached by a chain 25 to a lifting mechanism (not shown). The shank 12 is pivoted between collars on a cross-shaft 18 carried by the vehicle chassis 11.
