Abstract
791,104. Stopping shafts in predetermined positions. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 26, 1956 [April 29, 1955]; March 21, 1956], No. 12843/56. Class 80 (2). Means for stopping a shaft 1, e.g. for rotating tapped radio inductance coils, in any one of a finite or infinite number of positions during a rotation of more than one revolution in either direction, comprises a lug 4 on the shaft adapted to be arrested directly or indirectly by one or other of two stops 22, according to the direction of rotation, such stop being pivoted, against spring-return 24, into the path of the shaft-lug 4 by one or other of two strikers 19 selectively positioned on an externally-toothed disc 18 driven about a parallel axis 17 by meshing gear teeth 7 on the shaft 1. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the pivoted stops 22 press a separate radially slidable member 2 into the path of the shaft lug 4. In Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) the strikers 19 are formed on flat members frictionally clamped to the disc 18 in any position of adjustment, and acting on the stops 22 through the legs of a V-shaped spring attached at its apex to the disc centre. Different disc sizes can thus be accommodated by changing only the disc and' V-spring.
