Abstract
790,426. Valves. TOWNSON & MERCER, Ltd., and BROCK, R. B. Feb. 3, 1956 [Feb. 3, 1955], No. 3207/55. Class 135. The body of a plastic tap or valve includes hollow tapered parts for receiving separate pieces of tubing and a flow passage or passages interconnecting the bores of the tapered parts which is or are controllable in area. In Fig. 1, a polythene valve body 1 has tapered bores 2, 3, receiving corresponding tapered ends of a glass burette tube 11 and jet 12 respectively. Elbow passages 4 interconnecting the bores are controlled by a flexible diaphragm 6 secured in the body by a polythene gland nut 8 and operable by a member 10. The member 10 may be made of polythene or polystyrene. In Fig. 3, body parts 20 are externally tapered to receive the internally tapered ends of glass or plastic tubing.
