Abstract

789,858. Cores. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. April 11, 1956, No. 11002/56. Addition to 762,741. Class 83 (1). A core-assembly for use in casting the cylinder head of an I.C. engine, comprises an elongated water-jacket-core having a number of openings in one side, and not more than two elongated port-cores each having a number of laterally-extending arms which define intake and exhaust-ports, and fit into said openings. The water-jacket-core 58 is first placed in the drag, being located by core-point-projections 96, 98, and the port-cores 60, 62 which may be combined to form a single core, are fitted into the water-jacket-core with port-defining arms 66, 68, 70, 72, 84, 86, 88, extending into the openings 74, 76, 78, 80, 90, 92, 94. The cope 118 is then placed'in position.
