Abstract

789,629. Calculating-apparatus. LOBLITE, Ltd. Oct. 26, 1956 [Nov. 1, 1955], No. 31187/55. Class 106 (1). [Also in Group XX] A calculator comprises a rule 1, bearing a row 10 of multiplicand figures and columns 13 of product figures, and a cursor 4 having an aperture 9 through which a multiplicand may be read and one or more apertures 11, 12 through which may be seen the products of that multiplicand by multipliers 15 marked on the cursor. The rule 1 may be of sheet metal bent as shown and having its longitudinal edges 2, 3 bent over. In this case, the cursor 4 is similarly formed. Dimples 7 retain the cursor on the rule. The rule, which functions also as a straight edge, may bear on its reverse side inch and centimetre scales, e.g. equivalent values being readable against the reverse edges of the cursor. The rule and cursor may alternatively be moulded in plastic material.
