Abstract
789,536. Phonographs. HANSEN, H. C. July 27,. 1955 [July 30, 1954], No. 22381/54. Class 40 (2). An exterior of synthetic resinous material covering an interior rigid core providing mechanical rigidity forms the stationary centre spindle for a magazine phonograph of the type in which a stack of records is supported on the spindle which extends vertically from the centre of the turntable and has a shoulder to support the lowermost record which when laterally displaced to disengage it from the shoulder drops on to the turntable. As shown, the core is in two parts, a lower portion 10 having an annular recess 12 to key the resinous material and a bore to receive the lower end of a rod 14 which has a flattened portion 16 bent obliquely to the rest of the rod. Horizontal shoulders 22, 26 in the moulded resinous material 18, 24 are vertically spaced apart by a distance greater than the thickness of one but less than the thickness of two records. The lower end of the spindle is received in a stationary sleeve, not shown, about which the turntable rotates and is positioned by a projection 28 of the moulding in a notch in the sleeve. Suitable dimensions and materials for the spindle are described in the Specification.
