Abstract

Coloured soaps, paints and enamels are protected from deterioration in sunlight by including therein an ultra-violet light absorber of the general formula:- <FORM:0786762/III/1> wherein R and R1 are hydrogen or alkyl groups such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, amyl, hexyl, heptyl, octyl, octadecyl or lauryl. Dyestuffs specified for inclusion in soaps are Ultramarine Blue, Methyl Violets, Alizarine or naphthol compounds of chlorophyll, Chrysoidine, diazamine compounds, paramine compounds, Bismuth brown and Saffranine. The soaps also may contain germicidal or bactericidal compounds. U.S.A. Specification 2,686,812 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 706,151, [Group IV (a)].ALSO:Coloured cellulose ether or cellulose ester dopes are protected from the effects of ultraviolet light by including therein a solution of a compound of the general formula <FORM:0786762/IV (a)/1> wherein R and R1 may be hydrogen or alkyl groups such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, amyl, hexyl, heptyl, octyl, octadecyl or lauryl. U.S.A. Specification 2,686,812 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 706,151.ALSO:Rubber compositions such as india rubber, balata and gutta percha, and synthetic products such as polychloroprene, olefin polysulphides, polybutadiene, butadiene-styrene copolymers such as Buna S and butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers such as Buna N, are stabilized against the effects of ultra-violet light by incorporating therein a compound of the general formula: <FORM:0786762/V/1> wherein R and R1 are hydrogen or alkyl groups such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, amyl, hexyl, heptyl, octyl, octadecyl or lauryl. U.S.A. Specification 2,686,812 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 706,151 [Group IV(a)].ALSO:Coloured bath salts are stabilized against the effects of ultra-violet light by including therein a compound of the general formula <FORM:0786762/VI/1> wherein R and R1 are hydrogen or alkyl groups such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, amyl, hexyl, heptyl, octyl, octadecyl or lauryl. Dyestuffs added to the salts may be Auramine, Acridine orange, Chrysine, Phenylene brown, Methylene blues and basic greens. U.S.A. Specification 2,686,812 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 706,151, [Group IV (a)].
