785.495. Weighing apparatus. DES FRANCS, H. R. M. C. Aug. 30,1955 [Sept. 3, 1954], No. 24785/55. Class 143 An apparatus for weighing and feeding charges of pulverulent, granular or liquid material (e.g. cement) comprises a storage hopper 9 provided with an offset outlet 10, a weighing receptacle 13, a delivery conveyer 23 pivoted at 23a, 24a for movement in horizontal and vertical planes and flexible sealing members 11, 21 connecting the hopper, weighing receptacle and conveyer. The weighing receptacle is pivoted at 16 to one arm of a beam 17 f ulcrumed at 18, and is provided with a neck 12 which, when the receptacle drops due to the accumulation of a predetermined weight of material therein, co-operates with a cone 47 on a fixed rod 4 and so discontinues the feed of material from the hopper 9. When it is desired to discharge the receptacle, a hand lever 35 is moved in the direction of the arrow so causing a pair of pawls (not shown), operated by a rod 40, to engage toothed annuli 55 and lock the receptacle to the conveyer casing; a linkage 32, 34 to open a discharge flap 31; and a linkage 37, 38 and cam 39 to raise a valve member 52 along rod 4, against the action of a spring 49. Opening of flap 31 operates a switch 45 which starts a conveyer driving motor 24. Rod 4 which is rigidly attached at its upper end to the top cover plate (not shown), of hopper 9, is oscillated at its lower end by a cam 53, also driven by motor 24 when the conveyer is being driven, so agitating the material in hopper 9 and receptacle 13.
