Abstract

A suppository for rectal administration is made from a fusible base, such as cocoa butter or wax, through which is distributed a compound of thiobarbituric acid. Preferably the suppository is made as a cylindrical rod, containing a known quantity of thiobarbiturate, and this is divided by indentations or a marked wrapper so that shorter lengths, containing the appropriate proportion, can be cut off.
