Abstract
780,879. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. FOXBORO CO. March 30, 1955 [April 16, 1954], No. 9327/55. Class 135. The invention relates to a pneumatic control system comprising a control valve constituted by a nozzle 15, Fig. I, and co-operating hinged baffle 10, and three pressure-responsive elements 16, 18, 27 of which elements 16, 18 act in opposite senses on the baffle and element 27 acts on one of the other elements (16) to vary the distance of that element from the pivot of the baffle. Pressure air is supplied to the nozzle past a restriction 23, and the nozzle back-pressure is taken off at 25 for control purposes. An input signal is fed into bellows 16, and the pressure in line 25 is fed into bellows 18 to act as a negative feed-back. The pressure in bellows 27 sets the ratio between the effects due to the pressures in the other two bellows, and the pressure in bellows 27 may be representative of a variable condition. The spring 29 loading bellows 27 may be replaced by a pressureresponsive bellows. Baffle 10 is loaded by springs 13, 14. In a practical embodiment, the bellows 16, Figs. IV and VI, is carried by an arm 38 which is pivoted by leaf springs 37 to a fixed post 36. The bellows extends through a bracket 47 welded to arm 38 and acts on baffle 10 through the intermediary of an arm 40 which is pivoted to arm 38 by means of crossed leaf springs 39, 39b. Arm 40 carries a roller 41 and it is this roller which makes the actual contact between arm 40 and baffle 10. Bellows 27 and spring 29 are carried on fixed supports in the casing and they act on arm 38 as shown. Bellows 18 (not shown) acts upwardly on the underside of baffle 10 and is situated between nozzle 15 and a leaf spring 11 on which the distant end of the baffle is pivoted. Specification 591,270 is referred to.
