Abstract

779,935. Tipping vehicles. BIRDWELL, B. G. Sept. 19, 1955, No. 26744/55. Class 108(1). The tipping body is pivoted at 27 to the chassis and is raised by means of struts 36 pivoted at 37 to the body and being provided with bell-crank levers 66 which are pivoted together with the lower ends of struts 36 on a cross-shaft 42 having rollers 43 engaging the lower flanges 45 of the chassis longitudinals 18. The bellcrank levers 66 are also provided with a cross-shaft 61 carrying pulleys 50 which co-operate with pulleys on the chassis and a cable 48 to cause rearward movement of the lower ends of struts 36 thus elevating the body. Initial elevation of the body is effected by rotation of the bell-crank. levers 66 about the axis of the rollers 43 thus causing the rollers 73 to bear against the underside of the body. The pulleys 50 may be mounted on the shaft 42 and the bell-crank levers omitted.
