Abstract
A dental therapeutic composition e.g. a dentifrice, mouth-wash, chewing gum, tablets, lozenges and troches comprises not less than 0.5 per cent by weight of dehyracetic acid or a water soluble salt thereof e.g. sodium potassium or ammonium salt, preferably in the range of about 0.5 to 1.5 per cent by weight, dissolved or dispersed in a vehicle compatible with the acid or salt. A water soluble oxalate e.g. sodium, potassium or ammonium or the urea salt of oxalic acid preferably in the range of about 0.25 to 1.5 per cent by weight may also be included. The vehicle in the case of a dentifrice comprises tooth cleaning components and in the case of a mouthwash a mixture of alcohol and water. Examples are given.
