[Also in Group XXIX] Metal bolts and screwed-rods used for clamping together the wooden timbers of vats for acids, are covered by extruded tubes of a thermoplastic material of an internal bore somewhat less than the bolt-diameter, which are expanded on to the bolts while heated to a mouldable state so as to contract to a tight fit thereon. The ends of the tubes may be fused to plastic washers for protecting the metal nuts used.
