Abstract

779,205. Batteries. OLDHAM & SON Ltd., and PROUT, L. R. Jan. 19, 1956 [Jan. 19, 1955], No. 1678/55. Class 53. A grid plate for a lead-acid accumulator is made by forming a blanked grid from sheet material, upsetting the blanked grid to cause tapered edges 5 to protrude into the interstices 3 and forcing pellets of active material into the interstices so that the edges 5 become embedded in the pellets. Additional keying of the pellets may be attained by forming fins 7, Fig. 6, on the edges 5 during the upsetting operation.
