Abstract

778,484. Drum sticks. PREMIER DRUM. CO., Ltd. Jan. 2, 1956, No. 88/56. Class 88 (2) [Also in Groups XXIV and XXV] A clamping device for a drum stick comprises a screw 9 rotatable idly in a support or housing 3 secured to the outer one 1 of two relatively slidable or rotatable members 1, 2 disposed one within the other, the screw being threaded through a nut 13 held against rotation by a clamping element 6 one end of the screw abutting against the clamping element. The support or housing is formed with a lug 5 which contains a rectangular compartment 5a open at its base. Loosely located in the compartment 5a is the clamping element 6 the clamping element being of rectangular form and having a width nearly equal to that of the compartment so that it does not rotate relative to the compartment. The clamping element has a projection 7 which engages loosely in a slot formed in the outer member 1 so that it can engage the inner member 2. The free edge of the projection is radiused to correspond to the outer radius of the member 2. The clamping element is also provided with a rectangular recess 14 which contains the nut 13 and since the nut is square in shape the recess prevents its rotation relative to the clamping element although allowing it to slide. Thus, when the screw 9 is rotated the nut 13 abuts against the support or housing and moves the clamping element into engagement with the member 2. The clamping element and the support or housing can be made of aluminium, brass or the like and the screw and nut of steel or other hard wearing material.
