Abstract

778,460. Phase-sensitive amplifiers. SPERRY CORPORATION. April 13, 1955 [June 11, 1954], No. 10636/55. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] In an amplifier comprising two opposite conductivity type transistors 11, 12 with the input eS applied in parallel to the emitter and base, pulsating power supplies of opposite sign are connected to energize the respective collectors and a load 20 is connected between the common input and the junction of the two power supplies. The pulsating power supplies eA, eB may be derived from the secondary of a transformer 13 over diodes' 16, 17, 18, 19 the transformer being energized from a source eR. Considering an input 21 pulses of current flow in the collector circuit of transistor 11 to give the curve ic<SP>11</SP>, which combined with the collector current ic<SP>12</SP> form the load current iL. The voltage appearing across the load eL varies in phase in accordance with the input 21, 22. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown); a common emitter connection is employed. The load 20 may be a servomotor of the two-phase or D.C. type and the input may be of different frequency from the supply or D.C. The transistors may be either point or junction type. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 714,986, [Group XL (c)].
