776,720. Paper mesh bags. MARKS, R. H. Aug. 12, 1955, No. 23306/55. Class 94(2). [Also in Group VI and VIII] A knitted paper bag comprises a seamless circular tubular knitted assembly of twisted paper strand material 14 extending predominantly longitudinally of the axis of the bag, Fig. 7 the assembly being stretchable in a lateral direction, Fig. 10, for extending the strand material to provide openings 17-20 the axes of which extend transversely of the axis of the bag. Lengths are cut from the tube to form the bags, the cut portion being closed by sewing, stapling or glueing to form the bottom of the bag. The strands may be coated with oil or plastic before knitting the tube. The bag is suitable for use in smoking hams the mesh permitting the circulation of the smoke.
