Class 99(2) A flexible hose for conveying liquid oxygen comprises a plurality of layers of "Terylene" (Registered Trade Mark) film and internal and external helical wire armourings. It may comprise one or more inner layers of "Terylene" cloth, a number of intermediate layers of "Terylene" film and one or more outer layers of "Terylene" cloth. If desired the intermediate layers of "Terylene" film may be divided into two groups by an interposed layer of "Terylene" cloth. The hose is made by applying to a mandrel a helix of stainless steel wire then two turns of "Terylene" cloth then twenty turns of "Terylene" film of thickness 0.0015 in., then two more turns of "Terylene" cloth and finally an outer helix of stainless steel wire. In another embodiment the twenty turns of "Terylene" film are followed by one turn of "Terylene" cloth, ten turns of "Terylene" film, three turns of "Terylene" cloth and then the stainless steel wire. In suitable cases the turns of "Terylene" cloth may be dispensed with entirely.The hose may include layers of "Terylene" film and a polyvinyl chloride or similar synthetic plastic composition or layers of "Terylene" and synthetic rubber. The wire armouring particularly the outer armouring, may be constituted by a monofilament of suitable synthetic plastic material or of synthetic rubber.
