Abstract
776,281. Electric measuring systems. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 26, 1955 [May 26, 1954], No. 15565/54. Class 40 (1). [Also in Groups XXXV and XL (c)] A remote indication of the position of a lever 15 is obtained by coupling the lever 15 by a spring 14 to a lever 11 which differentially adjusts a pair of condensers C<SP>2</SP>A, C<SP>2</SP>B. The values of these condensers determine which one of two oscillators V<SP>1</SP>A, V<SP>1</SP>B is oscillating and which is not, so as to control (see Group XXXV) the current passed by either rectifier RECT (1) or RECT (2). This current is measured by a milli-ammeter 16 to provide the output indication. The output current is also passed through a coil 12 secured to the lever 11 so that in cooperation with a magnet 13 it tends to cancel the initial movement of the lever. The oscillator may be replaced by any one of those shown in Figs. 3 to 7 (not shown). In another embodiment, Fig. 9 (not shown), movement of the input lever adjusts the position of the core of a differential transformer thus varying the magnitude and phase-sense of the input signal to a phase-sensitive rectifier (see Group XXV) the output current of which is measured to give the required remote indication. The output current is fed back to a coil on the input lever as before.
