Abstract

775,479. Stock-raising appliances. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. April 6, 1955 [April 7, 1954], No. 10281/54. Class 5(2). A compartment for use in enclosures for animals, particularly pig sties, for sheltering young stock, is triangular in plan, being formed by three walls 1, 2 and 3; the walls 1 and 2 being adapted to fit into a corner of the sty and the walls 3 being reinforced to withstand the weight of the sow. The wall 3 extends from the top of the compartment to a suitable distance from the floor of the sty so as to leave a space below the bottom edge 4 of such dimensions as to permit the entry of the piglets but exclude the sow. The lid 8 of the compartment supports a heating element bounded on either side by a reflector 14, together with a lamp 18 which serves to illuminate the interior of the compartment, attracting the piglets thereby.
