Abstract

A rubber piston ring 10 of circular cross section strained torsionally in its circular form (see Group XXVI) is produced either from a length of rubber cord twisted about its axis prior to joining the ends to form the ring or is formed, in its free state, as a plaited loop, the ring being moulded in its circular form and twisted into the shape of a figure 8 prior to vulcanization.
