Abstract
773,351. Baths. JACUZZI BROS., Inc. June 17, 1955 [Aug. 5, 1954], No. 17542/55. Class 26. [Also in Group XXVI] A centrifugal pump unit for use in bath tanks and tubs comprises, as shown in Fig. 1 and with parts dismantled in Fig. 2, a housing 14 having an impeller 12 therein to which water is delivered through apertures 20 in the base, and a nozzle assembly 16 with nozzle 80 pivotally supported on the housing, the water being delivered to the nozzle through apertures 20, through an opening 30 in the base of the impeller chamber, outwards as forced by the blades 124 of the impeller to volute-shaped passages 26 and upwardly into portion 46 of the housing top 14, then inwardly and upwardly into the annular passage 56, outwardly through ports 62 into annular chamber 68 in the nozzle assembly and round a valve seat 90 to the nozzle 80. The nozzle is threaded at 82 so that the flow from the pump may be adjusted by movement of portion 94 of the nozzle relative to valve seat 90, fingers 140 on the nozzle end enabling this to be done by the user's feet. The amount of air injected into the nozzle through aperture 132 is adjusted by movement of cap 128 on air pipe 86 to bring holes 130 and 126 on these parts more or less into alignment. The angular position of the nozzle is adjustable by foot bars 134 on the nozzle. A filter pad 42 is provided beneath the impeller chamber.
