773,195. Television distribution systems. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS, Ltd. Feb. 11, 1955 [Nov. 13, 1953], No. 31551/53. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (4). In a television distribution system in which two programmes are distributed on adjacent cables, one cable carrying a carrier and its. upper side-band and the other cable carrying a carrier and its lower side-band, and where there is substantial overlap between sidebands, frequency discriminating circuits are inserted at suitable points to prevent mutual interference. As described, each cable includes series connected rejector circuits tuned to the frequency of the carrier on the adjacent cable. These may be connected in the "drop-in" leads or in the main distribution system. The frequency discriminating circuit may instead be of the bridged T-type and may be inserted in front of repeaters in the system. Preferably the carrier spacing is an odd multiple of half the line scan frequency. The cables may carry the audio signals in the usual manner. Two programmes per cable may be distributed, using two spaced carriers on each cable and arranging for the upper side bands of each carrier on one cable to overlap respectively the lower sidebands of each carrier on the other cable. Separation of the programmes on a single cable would then be effected by means of simple broadly-tuned filters.
