Abstract
772,568. Welding by fusion. SVENSKA AKTIEBOLAGET GASACCUMULATOR. May 5, 1955 [May 10, 1954], No. 13064/55. Class 83 (4). Apparatus for moving parts 26 into and out of position relatively to a welding machine comprises a carriage 1 having a pair of horizontal rotatable shafts 7 carrying hooks 11 adapted to hold distance pieces 17 for separating the parts 26, and a stationary frame 20 adjacent the path of movement of the carriage having a sledge 21 to support the parts 26 and movable into the carriage to insert the parts between the distance plates. The carriage which is wheeled and movable along rails 3 towards a welding machine as described in Specification 646,150 has four vertically adjustable standards 5, each supporting a transverse cross-piece 6, in which cross-pieces are mounted the pair of shafts 7. The left-hand pair of shafts 6 are vertically adjustable. The hooks 11 are non-rotatively mounted on the shafts 7 and with the exception of the pair of hooks nearest the welder are pivoted on the shafts to be movable by levers 14 and are separated by distance blocks. Radiator sections 26 are inserted in notches in support bars 23, 25 on the sledge 21, the bar 23 being mounted on arms 24 supported on guides 22 on the frame and pivoted on a shaft 24a. The sledge is pushed off the frame 20 on to guides 18 on the carriage to insert the sections 26 between the distance plates 17 carried by the hooks, the arms 24 then swinging downwardly to release the sections from the bar 23. The sections and plates 17 are pressed into contact by the levers 14 and are pushed on to the horns 4 of the welder. The shafts 7 are turned to unhook the plates 17, the sledge is pulled out a little to release the sections from bar 25, the carriage is withdrawn and the sledge is pulled on to the frame 20 for reloading. After welding the carriage is pushed forwardly, the hooks are engaged with the plate 17 and the carriage is withdrawn. As the sections are removed from the ends of the horns they drop into a collecting box 19.
