Abstract

771,512. Photographic cameras. DECKEL, H., and DECKEL, F. W. March 31, 1955 [April 2, 1954; May 14, 1954], No. 9394/55, Class 98(1) A photographic between-lens shutter has a shutter-speed setting member and a diaphragm setting member interconnected by a disengageable device and located side by side on the shutter periphery and coaxially with the optical axis, one of the setting members having on its circumference an additional scale for adjusting relative coupling positions with total exposure values, which co-operates with mark on the other setting member. As shown in Figs. 1 to 5, the shutter has a cylindrical casing 10 with a rearwardly extending lens tube 12. A front lens tube 16 extends forwardly from a base plate 14 disposed within the housing 10. The shutter mechanism and iris diaphragm are located in front of and behind the baseplate 14 respectively. The shutter-speed setting member 22 is connected to a shutter speed setting ring 36, these parts being accommodated between the housing 10 and a fixed cover plate 24. The diaphragm setting member 26 is situated behind the housing 10, and is connected to a tubular ring 40 which surrounds the housing 10. As shown in Fig. 2, a cover ring 44 surrounds the housing 10, and an annular member 48 disposed in the space between them and fixed to the shutterspeed setting member 22 bears a scale of shutter speeds 50 and a scale of exposure values 52. The cover ring 44 has an opening 54 through which a single reading on the shutter speed scale 50 is visible, while the setting ring 40 of the diaphragm adjusting member has a larger opening 56 in which a number of values on the total exposure values scale 52 can be seen. A resilient coupling tongue 58, Fig. 4, is riveted at 60 to the diaphragm setting ring 40, opposite windows 54, 56, and its opposite end 62 engages gripping notches 38 formed on the periphery of a shutter speed setting ring 36. An arcuate plate 64 (Figs. 1 and 3) is fixed by screws 66 to the housing 10 and bears a diaphragm setting scale 68, the values of which are visible through an opening 70 formed in the setting ring 40. An index mark 72 formed on the setting ring 40 between the windows 56, 70 indicates both the total exposure value and the stop value to which the diaphragm is adjusted. Flashlamp synchronizing mechanism of conventional type is controlled by a shift ring 54 which is connected by a sleeve 80 and bolt 82 to a setting ring 76. A scale plate 84 (see Figs. 1 and 5) is fixed to shift ring 74 and carries a scale 86 bearing the notations M, X and V which can be observed through a window 88 in the covering ring 44. Notation V relates to a delayed action mechanism, while notations M, X relate to different kinds of flashlamps. As shown in Fig. 1, the shutter setting and release members 28 and 30 and the contact terminal 32 of the flash light synchronizing mechanism, extend through the rear of the ousing wall and are connected to comthe housing wall and are connected to com- In a modification, Fig. 7, the shutter speed setting member 22 is riveted to a setting ring 136, which has a serrated edge and has a part disposed around the shutter casing 10 and the cover plate 24. The diaphragm setting member 26 is connected to a tubular setting ring with serrations 142 which surrounds 140 the shutter housing 10. A narrow ring 200 is mounted on the shutter housing 10 between the setting rings 136, 140. An index or reference mark 202 on ring 200 co-operates with the shutter speed scale 150 on setting ring 136 and the diaphragm setting scale 168 of the setting ring 140. The shutter speed and diaphragm adjusting rings are connected together by a resilient coupling tongue (not shown) similar to the coupling tongue 58 shown in Fig. 4, and the relative positions of the setting members are determined in accordance with a scale 152 formed on a ring 204. This ring 204 is plementary mechanism in the camera body. the setting ring 140, and is connected by means of a driving arm 206 which is riveted at 208 to the member 22, and extends through slots 210, 212 in the rings 200 and 140 respectively to engage a recess 216 in the ring 204. The total exposure value is indicated on the scale 152 by an index mark 172 formed on the setting ring 140. As in the first-described embodiment, an additional setting ring may be provided for adjusting the flash light synchronizing mechanism. Specifications 275,462 [Class 98(1)] and 744,962 are referred to.
