Abstract

769,414. Making plaster board. SOC. ANON. DES MANUFACTURES DES GLACES ET PRODUITS CHIMIQUES DE ST.-GOBAIN, CHAUNY & CIREY. May 3, 1954 [May 13, 1953], No. 12765/54. Class 87(2). [Also in Group X] Plaster board is formed by bringing a porous sheet 4 of e.g. glass fibres into contact with one or both sides of the plaster mix which may contain a filler or resin. The plaster is shaped by glass, ebonite, rubber or steel rollers 2, drawn by rollers 6, polished by surfaces 7, and then passed to an oven, where it may be kept under pressure. During shaping, the plaster is partly or wholly introduced into the sheet 4. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the rollers 2 are replaced by endless bands. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the boards are formed horizontally, the porous sheet being applied to the lower surface only of the plaster. Each of the apparatusses may be adjusted to produce boards of different thicknesses. A reinforcement 12 of e.g. glass fibre may be incorporated in the boards.
