769,076. Gramophone turntable driving wheels. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 17, 1955 [May 20, 1954], No. 14221/55. Class 40 (2). [Also in Group XXIV] ' A gramophone turntable friction driving wheel 4 comprising a body of elastic material, e.g. rubber, cup shaped in section along its rotational axis and having a friction driving surface 10 formed on the rim thereof has the radial deformability of the rim restricted by a separate rigid supporting member shown as a metal annulus 14 having a flange 15, arranged radially inward in the plane of and spaced from the rim. The wheel 4 and the annulus are mounted coaxially on a shaft 13 to convey the drive from a motor driving shaft 2 to the inner surface of the rim 5 of the turntable 1, the direction of rotation indicated by arrow 3 being such as to clamp, by virtue of the shaft 13 being laterally movable, the wheel 4 between the shaft 2 and rim 5.
