Abstract

In a method of manufacturing synthetic resin compound bearings a metallic sheet, strip or preformed bearing member is coated with a synthetic resin in a liquid or dissolved state, the synthetic resin is heated to such a temperature as to remove substantially all the volatile components without substantially hardening the resin, the coated sheet strip or member is then worked up into any desired final form and heat is then applied thereto to harden the synthetic resin layer. Several layers may be applied in succession, the heat to remove the volatile components being applied to each layer before the application of a subsequent layer. A metallic sheet or strip may be moved past one or more resin-spraying applicators each with heating means associated therewith, so that volatile components are removed from one coat of synthetic resin before a subsequent coat is applied.
