Method of painting slide fasteners The invention relates to
on a process for painting zippers. One has already many times
tried to paint zippers to make them the color of the ones to be fitted with them
To adapt to the garment or to give it a better one for any other reason
To look like the colors of the metals used in their manufacture
allow. In addition, a lacquer coating offers the possibility of producing the
Limbs to use easily oxidizing cheaper metals. It is not yet
succeeded in painting a zipper flawlessly. This stems from the fact that
Unusually high demands on the lacquer coating of the closure members
the durability must be made because of the strong abrasion of the links
when closing and opening the buckle and because of the bending of the links when
Pinching on the liner. Even the attempts made, through use
Special lacquers to come to a usable result must be considered unsuccessful
because the greater difficulty is precisely in the application of the lacquer coating
exists on the limbs.
According to the invention, this now results in an unprecedented result

In detail, the manufacture of a lacquered zipper can be carried out, for example, as follows: The links are first treated with acid, e.g. B. dilute hydrochloric acid, pickled and thereby freed of all dirt and roughened at the same time. The acid residues are removed by rinsing in water and in benzene. The links are then filled in random piles into a rotating drum, and with the normal size of the rotating drum and locking elements, about 20 kg. Up to about 70 g of paint is then sprayed onto this set of links at room temperature and with constant rotation of the drum, thereby providing the links with an extremely thin coating of lacquer. Normal oven-drying oil varnish or resin, synthetic resin or asphalt varnish, among others, which are dry and rub-resistant, can be used as varnishes. The lacquered links are then dried thoroughly in an oven for about 100 to 100 hours. After this operation, the limbs sticking together in lumps are poured into a lintel box, which is about 2 m high and has a sloping bottom opening into a collecting container, whereby the limbs are separated from each other again. Instead of a fall box, a centrifuge or some other separating device can also be used. The links are then painted, dried and separated again, as described above, and this is repeated about 5 times, depending on the type of lacquer, until the links have a sufficiently thick coating.
So vertragen z.
After the last application of lacquer, the links are at about iq.o to
15o ° for 3 to 6 hours depending on the type of paint and color, and therefore completely
hardened. So tolerate z. B. black and brown lacquers a stronger warming,
while green, yellow, white and red lacquers are only useful for the lower ones indicated
Temperature values should be dried, as they are sensitive to strong heating.
The pre-painted links are pressed onto the supporting tape as described above
Reheating to about 90 °, causing the lacquer coating to crack or peel off
is safely prevented. But it can also be the closure members after the last
Lacquer application initially only dried at about 10 to 115 minutes, then attached to the carrier tape
struck and then only at about 14o ° above q. Completely dry for up to 6 hours
will.
Schloß des Reißverschlusses genügt der bei -anderen Kleinmetallwaren gebräuchliche-Lackauftrag;

In this way, zipper links in a wide variety of colors can be provided with an abrasion and pressure-resistant lacquer coating. In the case of the slide or lock of the zipper, the application of varnish, which is common with other small metal goods, is sufficient; however, when the slide is painted, its inside is expediently covered against the application of paint, since rubbing painted surfaces on top of one another is less favorable than rubbing metal on paint for the durability of the coating. on the contrary, various modifications and other designs are possible. In particular, the specified temperatures and the number of individual paint applications must be selected accordingly for the paint used in each case. Furthermore, the lacquer can be applied to the links by slowly pouring or dripping the lacquer onto them instead of spraying them on, or by introducing the lacquer into the drum beforehand and taking it up by the links by rotating the drum.
