[Also in Group V] An extrusion press, particularly for extruding aluminium, lead or synthetic resin as a tube, or other hollow elongated product, has means for introducing non-extruded reinforcement wires 6 into the extruded material and a separate guide is provided for each wire, the extrusion material being guided up to the wire from opposite sides thereof at the exit end of the guide. The wires 6 pass through longitudinal bores 5 in guides 7 formed preferably in a mandrel 1, supported in a holder 2, which has a part 11 co-operating with a part 10 of a die 4 to form an annular extrusion orifice for producing a tube 15; the wires 6 are embedded in the wall of the tube. Molten metal enters through ducts 12 and flows through duets or recesses 13 in the mandrel, into an annular pressure chamber 9. The ducts 13, Fig. 2, have guide surfaces 7a, 7b, which ensure that the metal flows into the pressure chamber 9 on each side of each wire so preventing its displacement. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the forward end of each guide has an extension projecting into the chamber 9, the cross-sectional shape of the extension being circular, triangular, square or of a regular pentagon.
