Abstract
767,001. Harvesting machines. FERGUSON, Inc., H. April 7, 1952 [April 7, 1951], No. 8791/52. Class 6(3). A hitch mechanism for connecting an implement such as a combine harvester, forage harvester or hay baler in side-by-side relation to a tractor comprises a frame having members for coupling to a tractor at longitudinally spaced points and means on the frame for disengageably connecting an implement so as to form a rigid unit with the frame. As shown, the frame comprises members 31, 32, 33. A ball element is carried in a plate rigidly secured to a drawbar connected to the draft links of the tractor and engages in a spring-urged socket in the member 31. A cup element 65 is mounted on the side of the tractor and receives a coupling element 67 formed in or rigidly secured to the member 32, the element being secured in place by means of a pin 69. A land wheel 71 is provided together with a stand which may be collapsed to lower the socket or the frame member 31 on to the ball element. Pins 88 and 89 engage in sockets in the implement and pins on the implement engage in sockets 92, 93 in, the frame to attach the implement. The implement is driven by a belt drive 121 from the tractor power shaft or alternatively the belt drive may be replaced by a separate motor mounted on the member 31. To enable the implement to be connected to the frame two vertically disposed hydraulic jacks are provided on the implement.
