Abstract

766,291. Carburetters. SOLEX. Nov. 26, 1954 [Nov. 30, 1953], No. 34367/54. Class 7 (3). In a carburetter comprising a constant level overflow chamber fed with fuel by means of a pump, as well as a lower chamber adjacent to the constant level chamber and adapted to receive directly the excess fuel overflowing the overflow edge or weir of the constant level chamber, this lower chamber communicating when it contains a certain quantity of fuel with the feed of the pump, the upper part of the lower chamber is fixed to the bottom of the constant level chamber and is in contact therewith over a relatively small area so as to limit the transmission by conduction of heat to the lower chamber. The nozzle 14 draws its supply from an overflow chamber 5 to which fuel is supplied by a pump 7 past a calibrated orifice 9. When there is sufficient fuel in the overflow chamber 16 the valve 21 cuts off the pump from the reservoir 18 and fuel is drawn from the chamber 16. The valve 21 may be operated by a diaphragm. The chamber 16 may be connected to the air intake through the tube 17 or it may be vented through the tube 10. Any suitable fuel nozzle system may be used. An emulsifying tube 15 is provided with holes (not shown) in its sides. A lever 37 operated either by the driver or automatically controls the starting device.
