Abstract

766,105. Stamping. SVENSKA PLATROR AKTIEBOLAG. March 25, 1955, No. 8727/55. Addition to 738,708. Class 83 (4). An improvement in or modification of the joggling device for producing sockets on pipes as disclosed in the parent Specification is characterized in that one of the external jaws is provided with a longitudinally disposed groove over its entire cylindrical recess dimensioned to accommodate the longitudinally disposed inwardly directed overlap joint of the tube during the joggling so that after the joggling the said joint will be displaced to the outside of the sleeve formed in the tube, thus providing a sleeve with a completely smooth internal surface for sliding over the smooth outside of an abutting tube. One of the external radially movable jaws 1 is provided with a longitudinal groove 3 extending the length of the recess 2. The internal pressing jaw 5 which faces the external jaw 1 provided with the groove 3 is provided directly facing the extension of the groove 3 with a longitudinal groove 10 which extends from the outer end of the jaw 5 to its projection 9. The grooves 3 and 10 accommodate the overlap joint of the tube. In a further modification the internal jaws may be replaced by a cylindrical elastoplastic sleeve 11 (Fig. 3), which is compressed axially to effect the joggling.
