Abstract

765,724. Releasable fastenings. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. March 8, 1955 [March 19, 1954], No. 6768/55. Class 44. [Also in Group XXXVII] A locking device, suitable for an electric switch which has a handle which projects through a slot in the casing and is movable to " on " and " off positions, comprises a solid member (Fig. 3) apertured at 29 to fit over the handle 21 and having a nose-piece 35 which projects into the slot 23 and engages its end wall, thereby " wedging " the handle in one of its positions. The device has a longitudinal aperture 39, 43, the inner portion of which (39) is tapped to receive a set-screw 41 which secures the device to the handle. A transverse aperture 37 is provided through which a padlock may be inserted, thereby rendering the setscrew inaccessible to unauthorized persons. The device is reversible and may be used for locking in either the " on " or " off " positions.
