Abstract

765,601. Electric selectors. TORISU, R. Oct. 28, 1954 [Nov. 5, 1953], No. 31217/54. Class 40 (4). A cross-bar switch comprises select magnets mounted in pairs on a common yoke situated at one side of the switch frame, each pair of select magnets having a double-ended armature mounted at its middle on the common yoke, and the hold magnets are mounted in a row upon a common yoke at the top of the frame. The selecting magnets are arranged in pairs on a common yoke 10, Fig. 3, each pair having a common armature 9 pivotally secured to the yoke by a strip 12 pressing against a rubber strip 11. For any row energization of one or other magnet 8 of a pair displaces bar 50 in one or other direction against the action of a return spring 62 and closes one or other set of offnormal contacts 60, 61. Projections 53 on the bar 50 displace interponent springs 23 to lie over the right or left-hand sets of contacts. Operation of a hold bar 14, Fig. 2, pulls down hold-bar 55 against the action of a return spring 28 acting also as the return spring for the lowermost set of contacts 67 in that column. The brackets 57 secured to the bar 55 have U-shaped ends, Fig. 10, which have no effect on unoperated interponent springs 23 but engage the displaced spring 23 to close the right or left-hand set of contacts as the case may be at the selected cross-point. Contact sets. The contacts are stamped out from sheet metal, for example as shown in Fig. 6, the connecting strips 38 being subsequently severed and the tags 40 are used for multipling. The several contact sets in a column are held together by a bolt 66, Fig. 2.
