Abstract
A viscose sponge has a reinforced external skin of regenerated cellulose. The sponge may be produced by introducing a sponge mass into a hollow mould coated with viscose having a high cellulose content, e.g. in the proportion 10 to 6.8 of cellulose to alkali, and decomposing the viscose in situ. In another method a manufactured viscose sponge is coated with viscose of high cellulose content and treated in a decomposition bath. Skins of varying thickness and density are produced, depending on the concentration and ripeness of the viscose and the thickness of the coating.ALSO:A viscose sponge has a reinforced external skin of regenerated cellulose.
