Abstract
Surgical suturing needles or hypodermic needles are coated with polytetrafluorethylene or polymonochlorotrifluorethylene. This reduces friction on insertion of the needle and prevents adhesion of tissue. The coating is applied by dipping, spraying or painting and, in the case of hypodermic needles, is preferably applied to the internal bore, as well as to the external surface, in order to reduce resistance to the passage of a medicament.
