Class 56 In the manufacture of glass or slag wool wherein the jet 5 is caught by a surface 1 (e.g. a serrated endless conveyer having a roughened surface) moving at a higher speed than the jet, the surface bit by the jet is heated (by a heater 6) so that the molten material from the jet temporarily adheres to the surface. The adherence is maintained until the material has been drawn into fibres.
