Abstract

764,955. Ante-dazzle screens for vehicles. ABELSON, L. A. and FOWLER, A. E. March 16, 1953 [Feb. 25, 1953], No. 5220/53. Class 103(2). A sun visor for a vehicle is provided along at least its inner edge with a flexible member so that when two such visors are mounted side-byside behind the windscreen the flexible members close any clearance between the adjacent edges of the visors and yet permit independent movement of such visor. In the arrangement shown, two sun visors are provided in a motor vehicle, each visor comprising a plate 1 sandwiched between two outer plates of greater length and depth so that a channel is formed around the periphery of the visor. Strips 4, 5 of flexible material are secured in the channel, the strip 5, which may be of leather, being formed with a slit 6, whereby when either sun visor is moved from an operative to an inoperative position the strip is easily deflected if it comes in contact with an obstruction, for example, a driving mirror 13. The upper edge of the outer plate 2 of a visor is formed with a sleeve 7 carrying a rod 8, the ends of which engage bearings 9 on the vehicle body. In a modification the visor is in two parts, an end portion carrying the slit strip being hinged to the main portion and being normally kept in the frame of the main portion by springs.
