Abstract
1,039,241. Sun visors; rear-view mirrors. HAPPICH G.m.b.H. GEB. April 28, 1964 [May 18, 1963], No. 17573/64. Heading B7J. A sun visor fitted with a mirror 8, Figs. 6 and 7, comprises two cushioning members 1, 3 of resilient material, e.g. foamed plastic, laid one on the other with or without the interposition of a flat support, e.g. a wire frame (not shown), the member 3 having a cut-out opening 4 provided with spacers in the form of tongues 7, Fig. 1, the mirror which has a frame 10 being received in the opening 4 with the tongues 7 compressed and the whole assembly being enclosed in a synthetic plastic sheath 9 which has a window cut-out for the mirror. The rim of the window is welded to the frame 10 around its periphery 11. Both members 1 and 3 are provided with a cut-line 5, Fig. 1 enclosing a cut-out portion 2 which is retained in position only by short connecting tabs 6. The cut-line 5 also forms the tongues 7. In assembly of the visor only the cut-out 2 of the member 3 is removed to form the opening 4. Modified tongues are described with reference to Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown) and the tongues may be replaced by ribs as described with reference to Figs. 13 and 14 (not shown). A single and separate spacer may be used or a spacer may be integral with the mirror frame.
