Abstract

764,749. Pipe joints. TECALEMIT, Ltd. March 18, 1955 [March 24, 1954], No. 7988/55. Addition to 726,484. Class 99(1) [Also in Group XXXIV] The arrangement described and claimed in the parent Specification is modified in that the lubricating nipple comprises a member of resilient deformable material, e.g. rubber which is locked in the metallic body of the nipple and is formed of elements comprised of two materials of different hardness. As shown, a member 3 which is relatively soft and is formed with a slit 4 of non-measurable width, is arranged between two rings 10, 11 of material of greater hardness, the parts being fixed by locking or crimping of the metallic body of the nipple. In a modification the bottom ring 11 is dispensed with and the upper ring is narrower, the inclined surface at the top. being formed by the central member 3. In a further modification the central member is completely surrounded by the outer harder member. Specifications 638,900 and 670,080 also are referred to.
