Abstract

761,945. Forging toothed gears. BAYERISCHES LEICHTMETALLWERK AKT.-GES. Sept. 10, 1954, No. 26291/54. Drawings to Specification. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). In the forging of toothed gears by pressing a pre-heated blank, enclosed within a tooth forming matrix, between top and bottom dies, the matrix has recesses formed in the surfaces thereof which produce the sides of the teeth, for producing an increase in tooth thickness over an area extending from and on each side of the line of action of each tooth. The invention is applicable to gears having curved or straight teeth. Mating gears thus produced are lapped together whereby the thickenings are flattened out to produce the correct tooth profile.
