Abstract

A film for use as a surgical dressing comprises a mixture of 60 to 40 per cent of a copolymer of 25 per cent of acrylonitrile and 75 per cent of butadiene and 40 to 60 per cent of a copolymer of 80 per cent vinyl chloride and 20 per cent of vinyl acetate. The film may also contain small amounts of other plasticizers such as dimethoxyethyl phthalate. In an example the butadiene copolymer is dissolved in methyl ethyl ketone, the vinyl chloride copolymer is dissolved in acetone and the solutions mixed; the mixture is converted into a film by the usual methods. Specification 586,447, [Group IV], is referred to.
