Abstract
760,779. Wire-wound resistors. ROSENTHAL-ISOLATOREN GES. July 29, 1954 No. 22190/54. Class 37. Relates to wire-wound vitreous enamelled resistors. The invention provides an auxiliary insulating coating between the resistance wire and the outer vitreous enamel coating. The auxiliary insulating coating has a fusion point above that of the vitreous enamel. In one method of production an auxiliary support consists of organic material and is formed by winding or covering a temporary, core with hose, tube, strip, fibre or mesh. The auxiliary support is then wound with resistance wire followed by application of the auxiliary coating which may consist of putty or cement. Further steps comprise removal of core and heattreatment to harden the putty or cement and shrink &c. the auxiliary support and then remove the latter and finally apply the vitreous enamel. In a modification the resistance wire is wound around glass fibres or fabric constituting the auxiliary support which in this case remains as a permanent lightweight core.
